Track cyclists in London, Ont., are overjoyedĀ that their beloved velodrome is staying openĀ after they relentlessly rallied and raised funds to make sure the cityās only indoor track didnāt close down.Ā
The Forest City Velodrome reopened its doors on Wellington Road South on Oct. 30Ā after closing inĀ the spring due to challenges in negotiating aĀ new lease, which affected the non-profitĀ facilityās ability to getĀ corporate sponsorships.Ā
āWeĀ needed this place to stay open so weāve got a new board of directors and weāve got the financial means to stay open for a while,ā said Albert Devries, a volunteer instructor at the velodrome.
āItās a great place to come
