Inflation has risen to its highest point in a generation, pushing up the price of just about everything. But that goes for peopleās labour, too,Ā as employers compete to keep up with their staffing needs.
Officially, wages haveĀ risenĀ by only 3.1 per centĀ in the past year, about half the officialĀ inflation rate of 5.7 per cent. But because theĀ pandemic had such anĀ unprecedented impact on everything ā including statistics āĀ it can be helpful to compare things today to how they were two years ago, before COVID-19.Ā
