American crowdfunding site GiveSendGo is defending its decision to host a fundraiser for the OttawaĀ convoy protest, telling a parliamentary committee Thursday that the Canadian government never asked it to stop.
The siteās spokespeople also told MPs thatĀ it would host fundraisers for the Proud Boys or the Ku Klux Klan if what they were planning to do with the money was legal.
Jacob Wells and Heather Wilson, siblings and co-founders of the site, told MPsĀ itāsĀ important to defend freedom of speech.
āWe believeĀ deeply, to the core of our being, that the suppression of speech is much more dangerous than speech itself,ā said Wells.
